Dr. Chi Peter Nguyen - Optometrist

Dr. Chi Peter Nguyen is a Therapeutic Optometrist and Optometric Glaucoma Specialist certified by the Texas Optometry Board in the treatment and management of ocular diseases. He practices full-scope primary optometry and is available for pediatric eye exams, comprehensive eye exams, diabetic eye exams, LASIK consultations, cataract consultations, glaucoma evaluations, eye emergencies, and general optometric exams. His professional interests include performing eye exams for children, being up to date with the newest optometric technology, and handpicking glasses that match his patient’s personalities.

Along with being a Houston native, Dr. Nguyen attended the University of Houston and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. Dr. Nguyen then received his Doctorate of Optometry degree at the University of Houston College of Optometry.​​​​​​​

Dr. Nguyen completed his first internship at Community Eye Clinic in Fort Worth, Texas, and his second internship at the Casa de Amigos Health Center in Houston, Texas. He routinely diagnosed ocular conditions including glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, dry eye disease, and diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Nguyen also received clinical training at the University of Houston College of Optometry’s Ambulatory Surgery Center where he co-managed pre and post-operative retina, cataract, and LASIK patients.

Dr. Nguyen is passionate about the optometric profession and is currently Houston’s co-leader of Young ODs of America. In addition, Dr. Nguyen is a member of the Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and Harris County Optometric Society. Dr. Nguyen has also been to many optometric meetings including the Vision Expo, Vision Source Exchange, and American Optometric Association’s Optometry’s Meeting to stay up to date with new fashion trends, equipment, and education. Dr. Nguyen now practices full-scope optometry using the most advanced techniques and highest standards of care.

In 2021, Dr. Nguyen adopted a blind shih tzu. He describes caring for his furry best friend as one of the most rewarding experiences of his life. Dr. Nguyen also loves to volunteer and give back to the less fortunate. He enjoys going on mission trips to the Guerrero Clinic in Chihuahua, Mexico to provide eye care to the indigent population and also to step away from the city life to live in a cabin.

When not looking at eyeballs, Dr. Nguyen loves to stay active with cycling, working out, and working on home improvement projects. His guilty pleasure includes scrolling through Reddit memes while eating Totino’s Pizza Rolls.
